The coloured version of this piece [link]
Woo! Well this one was quite an endeavour and several hours of work but I'm feeling pretty darn spiffy bout the results I think doing these last few pics has really showed me just how much different blending options and a combination of techniques that wouldn't normally seem to mesh at first glance can produce some cool results. It's quite a departure from my usual style of work, which anyone looking through the rest of my gallery can see. Usually the pen tool is my weapon of choice but I've found that these pics lately have been done either completely with the paintbrush or airspray tools as well as a bit of dodge and burn here and there. I remember first starting out in Photoshop my images were swamped with dodge and burn so I ain't really used it for a long time but it's come in handy. Quite like how the blade of the sword came out. It doesn't looks as shiney and refined as I'd wanted but it wouldn't have blended in as well with the rest of the pic if it did. I think it has a real nice sense of age and beauty to it Used a displacement map to get the woolen/linen look for the habit. Maybe could have added some fraying here and there to spice it up a bit but hey, plenty of time in the future for that So ya, there it is folks lol. |
